I Heart Faces - Feet Week

It's feet week, over at I Heart Faces. Oh, it feels so good to be able to participate again.

The first photo I thought about, when I heard it was feet week, was an oldie but goodie. How I wish I could recreate this exact moment. I have learned so much in the last year, since this photo was taken. But this photo moment could never be staged.

Mister Rooney came out in his sisters princess shoes. I got the shot right as he was looking at his feet. I wonder what he was thinking. Now, this was done with a point and shoot, and long before I understood anything about composition.

At least he picked the shoes that matched his outfit. One day he may not be too happy that I posted this photo. And if you have been following my blog for awhile, you may remember seeing this priceless moment before.

On a side note, I have my first newborn shoot tomorrow, any thoughts from the photogs?

I'm SO glad you went with this one, Elaine. I know there are all kinds of technically perfect pics out there, but this theme screams "candid". Feet happen. They just do. And this moment was absolutely priceless... one of those things that money can't buy (and mommy can't stage!). He does have a certain sense of style, though, doesn't he?

He must be wondering what the heck do girls see in walking in heels. Cute photo.

What a great capture! I love this age when boys and girls don't know what is supposed to be girly or boyish. They simply live life the way they want to, without preconceived notions or fear of what others may think.

Love it love it! I have one of my now 13 year old in a similar shot although he doesn't have any underpants on and is just wearing a singlet and his special 'magic' shoes. He used to clip clop around in them everywhere. Love shots like this - perfect for the big 21st party!!

Oh, this is wonderful! I love boys before they understand and believe girl toys vs. boy toys.

That is so very cute. Took me a moment to see what he had on those feet. LOL!

Oh my cuteness! I love those toes crammed in those shoes. Just precious!

Oh so sweet! My little girl loves shoes and constantly puts on her brothers shoes. For some reason, seeing a boy trying on a girl's dress up shoes is just cuter (or funnier- not sure which). Great photo. I love it!

First of all, this shot is adorable, priceless, perfect even if you didn't know the rules of composition and flash, etc. I love it! Second of all, I had my first newborn last Thursday. It was AWESOME. I have the photos up on my flickr site. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mamateur/sets/72157621465149495/
It was the most fun ever. But I learned a ton and would do a million things differently. What props are you taking with you? Indoor or out? Your place or theirs? Natural light? If you want to, email me and I'll share some of my lessons learned. I also have some great links to helpful Flickr posts about newborn shoots, and YouTube tutorials if you want them. Good luck!

Fun shots like this don't need to follow "rules" because you will find it precious no matter what rules are broken. Its the story attached that matters... and for that, this photo is priceless.

The one thing I did was invest in some black velvet material from Walmart because you can use it anywhere! I also bought other fabrics and a cool basket that I could use as a prop and to carry everything! Check out my photos and feel free to email me at brazzells@mchsi.com if you have questions!

Pictures with stories are always the best ones. You can have a perfectly composed photo, but if it is staged, it lacks something. As far as the newborn shots, I'd just scour the internet for ideas. I know that Peahead prints specializes in baby photos. I'd go to sites like that where their specialty is babies. I can't wait to see the photos. My only wish is that I could have had some photography skills when my kids were newborns. :(

LOL! THis photo brings back so many memories of my boys at this age! They were so facsinated with my pink high heels! I love this photo! Just curious... what did daddy say? My husband would get so mad when I laughed at them for doing this! I just old him it was a stage... and I was right because now those two are ALL BOY!

I love this photo.....I would suggest enlarging and framing but that might not sit too well in a few years from now. HA! Thanks for sharing, I needed a giggle this morning. :)

so sweet and silly and adorable all rolled into one! no room for composition regrets - you caught the moment and that's what counts!!!

I bet you did GREAT with your newborn pics! (sorry I didn't pop in in time to say: most important thing with newborns is HEAT! make sure they're warm. and full bellies help with the whole sleep thing ... sometimes ;-) )

I love your entry!! It totally took me back to the days when my boys did the same thing. They would just die if I pulled those pics out now...lol!

I was going to tell you to check out Susan Keller's site for baby ideas, but I see she's already stopped by here. :). Her newborn pics are fabulous!
